This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established recycling facility offering full-time, ongoing work with a competitive hourly rate.The rate of pay as a Yard/ Plant Operative is: £13.39 p/h The working days and hours as a Yard/ Plant Operative are: 5 out of 7 days per weekWeek 1: 06:00- 14:00 (rotating) Week 2: 14:00- 22:00 As a Yard/ Plant Operative, you will play a vital role in the safe and efficient day-to-day running of the site. You will be responsible for sorting recyclable materials, maintaining a clean and safe working environment, carrying out routine inspections of plant and equipment, and supporting the movement and storage of materials around the site. Candidates who hold the appropriate licences will also operate plant machinery to assist with loading, unloading, and stock management.Key Responsibilities Safely load and unload containers and curtain-sided vehicles using a Forklift Truck (FLT).Operate authorised plant equipment, including a Loading Shovel, 360 Excavator, or Bobcat, where qualified.Sort and inspect incoming recyclable materials, removing any non-conforming or unsuitable items in line with company procedures.Carry out daily pre-use inspections of plant, machinery, and equipment, ensuring all items are safe to operate and accurately completing inspection records.Conduct regular inspections of the yard and operational areas, reporting any defects, hazards, or maintenance issues promptly.Rotate stock and materials around the site to maximise operational efficiency.Maintain high standards of housekeeping, ensuring the yard and work areas remain clean, tidy, and safe.Work closely with the Weighbridge Operator to coordinate the movement of inbound and outbound materials and support effective stock control.Comply with all Health & Safety, Environmental, and company procedures at all times.Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by the Site Manager. Requirements Previous experience working in a yard, recycling, waste management, industrial, manufacturing, or similar environment.Valid Forklift Truck (FLT) licence and experience operating a forklift.Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures.Ability to work rotating shifts.Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual handling duties.Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.Reliable, hardworking, and committed to maintaining high standards. Desirable Loading Shovel licence.360 Excavator licence.Bobcat (Skid Steer) operating licence.Previous experience within the recycling or waste management industry.Knowledge of material grading and waste segregation.
