KPI Recruiting are on the look out for a Slitting Operative for our client based in Crewe.As a Slitting Operative your hours and days are: Monday- Friday06:00- 18:00/ 18:00- 06:00 (rotating) The rate of pay as a Slitting Operative is: £13.00 - £15.06 p/h The duties and responsibilities as a Slitting Operative are:Machine Operation Set up and operate slitting machines according to job specifications, production schedules, and customer requirementsEnsure machinery is correctly configured for material type, roll size, and production specificationsMonitor machine performance throughout production runs to ensure optimal efficiency and product qualityAdjust machine settings as required to maintain production standards Material Handling Load and unload parent rolls and finished products using hoists, lifting equipment, and handling devicesSafely move materials within the production area while adhering to company health and safety proceduresVerify material identification and ensure correct materials are used for each production order Quality Control Measure and inspect finished rolls to verify width, cut accuracy, tension, and material integrityConduct regular quality checks throughout production runsIdentify defects, inconsistencies, or quality issues and take appropriate corrective actionEnsure finished products meet customer specifications and company quality standards Troubleshooting and Maintenance Perform basic machine troubleshooting and resolve minor operational issuesReport equipment faults, breakdowns, or maintenance requirements promptlyAssist with routine machine maintenance and cleaning activitiesWork closely with maintenance personnel to minimise downtime Qualifications and Experience needed as a Slitting Operative:Essential Requirements Secondary school educationMinimum 1–2 years of experience operating slitting machines, preferably within flexible packaging, converting, manufacturing, or related industriesBasic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skillsAbility to read and interpret work orders, artwork, production specifications, and technical instructionsExperience using measuring tools such as rulers and gaugesStrong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality productsAbility to lift and handle heavy material rolls safelyAbility to stand for extended periods during shift operationsWillingness to work within a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environmentGood communication and organisational skill Preferred Skills and Experience Experience operating specific slitting equipment such as Dusenbery, Kampf, Atlas, or similar machineryKnowledge of flexible packaging materials including PET, PE, BOPP, and laminated structuresFamiliarity with ERP systems, production tracking software, or manufacturing management systemsPrevious experience within a high-volume manufacturing or converting environmentUnderstanding of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles If this role as a Slitting Operative is for you then APPLY NOW or contact our Crewe Team on 01270 589943.INDWH
