We have an exciting locum opportunity for a Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist specialising in Dysphagia located in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire. This three-month position offers you a rewarding chance to make a real difference whilst earning up to £31 per hour. Working full-time across both acute medical wards and community settings, you will travel to patient homes and care homes within the East Staffordshire locality. This role invites experienced therapists with a substantial background in managing dysphagia, especially within NHS settings. What you will do:
- Assess and manage adults with communication and swallowing disorders across diverse settings.
- Provide specialist assessment and treatment for individuals with dysphagia.
- Manage patient care for those with conditions like stroke, dementia, and frailty.
- Conduct thorough swallowing assessments in both acute and community settings.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive rehabilitation plans for complex cases.
- Provide essential advice, support, and training to carers, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Engage in multidisciplinary care planning and facilitate effective patient discharge processes.
- Ensure meticulous maintenance of clinical documentation and EPR records.
- Participate actively in service development and quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
- Qualified Speech and Language Therapist with valid HCPC registration.
- Experience in managing dysphagia, especially related to stroke, dementia, and frailty.
- Ability and willingness to travel to patient homes and care homes within East Staffordshire.
- Acute ward and previous NHS experience required.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Requirements:
- EPR experience and familiarity with community pathways.
- Experience in both acute and community Speech and Language Therapy environments.
