We are seeking an inspiring and highly skilled Consultant Psychiatrist to join our dynamic Adult Community Services Mental Health team in Guernsey UK. What you will do:
- Coordinate and deliver an effective clinical service within Adult Mental Health, working collaboratively with the team, Clinical Director, Lead Consultant and Senior Service Manager
- Take part in a 1:6 on-call commitment, providing vital support to our Associate Specialist
- Set up and run a Primary Care Liaison Service, spending one day a week rotating between GP practice groups and the island of Alderney
- Ensure comprehensive medical cover is in place by coordinating annual and study leave with the Clinical Director
- Engage with Adult Mental Health and Primary Care colleagues to support GP colleagues with patient management
- Cover urgent clinical work as needed by mutual agreement with other medical staff
- Participate in teaching, examinations, and contribute to postgraduate and continuing medical education activities
- Play an active role in clinical audit, continuing medical education, and where possible, research
- Contribute to the effective management of the Mental Health Service overall
- Join relevant planning teams when requested, and undertake work on behalf of the HSC or services for other agencies
- Maintain certification and comply with arrangements for annual appraisal and revalidation
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
- Full registration with the General Medical Council
- Possession of MRCPsych or equivalent
- Name on Specialist Register or equivalent with CCT in General Adult Psychiatry
- Wide and recent experience in General Adult Psychiatry
- Experience in managing high-risk and complex mental health issues
- Proven record of clinical leadership and providing continuity of care
- Experience in multi-disciplinary team working
- Engagement in relevant teaching and continuing medical education activity
- Commitment to quality improvement, e.g. clinical audit
- Experience in conducting research activities
- Ability to contribute to the strategic management of mental health services
- Evidence of recent continual professional development
- Excellent interpersonal skills
