What you will do:

• Lead and manage the operational delivery of Mortuary Services, ensuring the provision of safe, effective, and responsive services across the Trust.
• Serve as the Trust’s professional lead, offering expert advice on post-mortem procedures, deceased patient management, and HTA compliance.
• Maintain full compliance with Human Tissue Authority licensing standards, national guidance, and NHS governance frameworks.
• Oversee mortuary quality management systems, including audits, inspections, incident investigations, and continuous improvement programmes.

Qualifications:

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Anatomical Pathology Technology, Biomedical Science, or a related healthcare discipline.
• Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology DAPT or equivalent recognised mortuary qualification.
• Evidence of postgraduate leadership or management development.
• Membership of a relevant professional body such as the Institute of Anatomical Pathology Technology IAPT is desirable.

Experience:

• Significant senior-level experience within an NHS or accredited mortuary environment.
• Proven experience in leading mortuary services within a complex healthcare organisation.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary teams including Histopathology, Coroners, Bereavement Services, and external partner organisations.
