What you will do:

• Undertake routine street cleansing activities such as litter picking, sweeping, bin emptying, and removing debris from highways, parks, and public spaces.
• Operate mechanical sweepers, vans, and hand tools in accordance with training, ensuring safe and effective use of all equipment.
• Remove fly-tipped waste, graffiti, and hazardous materials like sharps, adhering to council procedures and environmental legislation.
• Perform daily vehicle and equipment checks, reporting any defects and maintaining the equipment in a roadworthy and safe condition.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

• Having a NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Environmental Services, Waste Management or Horticulture is desirable.
• A Full UK Driving Licence is essential for mobile roles, with a C1 category being desirable.

Registration and Compliance:

• You should possess a working knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
• An awareness of the DEFRA Code of Practice on Litter and Refuse is needed.
• Understanding the principles of the Equality Act 2010 in service delivery is essential.
