What you will do

• Undertake assessments of children and young people with disabilities and their families, identifying strengths, needs, and risks.
• Develop, implement, and review child-centred support plans that promote positive outcomes.
• Ensure the voice, wishes, feelings, and experiences of children and young people remain central to all decision-making.
• Identify, assess, and respond effectively to safeguarding concerns.
• Undertake statutory child protection work, including participation in strategy discussions, child protection conferences, and core group meetings.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, carers, and support networks.
• Work collaboratively with education, health professionals, and partner agencies to coordinate effective support.
• Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary meetings, reviews, and planning processes.
• Use age-appropriate communication methods to engage directly with children and young people.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive case records and reports.
• Manage a caseload effectively while meeting statutory duties and timescales.
• Participate in supervision, training, and continuous professional development activities.

Requirements

• Social Work Qualification: Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work.
• Social Work England Registration: Current registration with Social Work England.
• Children's Services Experience: Previous experience working with children and families within statutory social work services.
• Disability Experience: Experience working with children and young people with disabilities is essential.
• Legislative Knowledge: Strong understanding of relevant legislation, safeguarding procedures, and statutory guidance.
• Assessment Skills: Excellent assessment, care planning, risk management, and report-writing abilities.
• Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, colleagues, and partner agencies.
