What you will do:
- Provide day-to-day leadership and management for social workers, senior practitioners, and support staff to ensure effective service delivery.
- Ensure high-quality assessments, child protection investigations, child in need planning, court work, and care planning are completed to statutory standards.
- Allocate and monitor caseloads considering complexity, workload, and staff experience to maintain a balanced workflow.
- Offer reflective supervision, coaching, mentoring, and performance management to foster professional development and high standards within the team.
- Make informed and timely decisions on safeguarding, risk management, and complex child protection cases.
- Monitor the quality and timeliness of case recording, assessments, and statutory visits to ensure compliance and continual improvement.
- Ensure adherence to legislation, statutory guidance, local policies, and Social Work England professional standards.
- Chair or actively contribute to strategy meetings, legal planning meetings, child protection conferences, and permanence planning when necessary.
- Cultivate strong partnerships with schools, health services, police, legal services, fostering teams, and other agencies to enhance service provision.
- Utilise quality assurance audits and performance indicators to monitor team performance and contribute to service improvement plans.
- Participate in recruitment, induction, staff wellbeing initiatives, and retention strategies to support team health and morale.
- Prepare for and engage in inspections, audits, and quality assurance activities, aiming for continuous service improvement.
- Efficiently manage budgets and resources to ensure children receive timely and appropriate services and interventions.
