What you will do:

• Independently perform and report a broad range of ultrasound examinations, including abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, gynaecological, and small parts imaging.
• Act as an autonomous practitioner, making clinical judgements and providing accurate diagnostic reports to inform patient care.
• Prioritise and manage daily workload, ensuring timely service delivery across inpatient, outpatient and emergency referrals.
• Work collaboratively with radiologists, clinicians, and multidisciplinary teams to support diagnosis, treatment planning and patient pathways.
• Supervise, mentor, and support junior sonographers, students, and assistant staff within the department.

Person Specification:

• Qualifications: BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent, Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma in Medical Ultrasound (CASE accredited), evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
• Registration & Compliance: HCPC registration (or equivalent professional registration such as NMC where applicable), knowledge of IR(ME)R, clinical governance, and NHS Scotland quality standards.
