Job Purpose:

• To ensure the provision of a high-quality and effective social work service to meet the needs of adults and their carers, in accordance with the Care Act 2014, and other relevant legislation.
• To safeguard adults with care and support needs in a timely manner and within statutory guidelines.
• To represent the service within multi-agency forums and to contribute to the development of policy and practice in Adult Services across the city.
• To provide effective leadership within the service, taking responsibility, being accountable and motivating staff within the team.
• To act as a champion within the service for strength-based practice.

What you will do:

• Work with the Service Manager to set objectives for the team, develop plans, identify resources, and mobilise staff to meet those objectives.
• Understand the position of the team within the wider Council and in relation to the local authority responsibilities.
• Ensure that adults with care and support needs are safeguarded in accordance with the principles of Making Safeguarding Personal, and that the service provides interventions which combine risk management and a restorative approach to practice.
• Provide line management of assistant team managers and other staff as required workers, including supervision and appraisal of staff, and offer valuable advice and guidance.
