An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Social Worker to join the Safeguarding Team within Children’s Social Care in Barking & Dagenham. This ongoing locum position offers a competitive hourly rate of £39.04 per hour with flexible part-time or full-time working options available.
In this role, you will manage complex safeguarding cases while providing professional guidance and leadership within the team. You will work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to ensure children and families receive timely and effective interventions. What You Will Do
- Manage a complex caseload involving Children in Need, Child Protection, and Care Proceedings.
- Undertake comprehensive assessments, interventions, and risk management to ensure children are safeguarded effectively.
- Provide mentoring, coaching, and informal supervision to Social Workers and Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs).
- Lead on complex safeguarding cases and provide professional advice and guidance within the team.
- Participate in strategy discussions, case conferences, and multi-agency meetings to coordinate safeguarding responses.
- Ensure all casework complies with statutory frameworks, safeguarding legislation, and local authority procedures.
- Maintain accurate, high-quality, and timely case recordings in line with professional standards.
- Work closely with education, health services, police, and other partner agencies to protect and support children and families.
- Support the Team Manager in driving service improvements, maintaining performance standards, and promoting best practice.
Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
- Significant experience within Children’s Social Care safeguarding services.
- Strong knowledge of UK safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance.
- Experience managing complex child protection cases and court work.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
