Job Purpose:
• To provide high-quality social work practice within the Pre Birth Team
• To safeguard unborn children by undertaking robust pre-birth assessments and interventions
• To support expectant families while ensuring risks are identified, assessed, and managed effectively
• To provide professional leadership and guidance within the team
Key Responsibilities:
• Complete comprehensive pre-birth assessments and develop clear, outcome-focused intervention plans
• Work closely with expectant parents to assess risk, capacity to change, and support needs
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals including health, midwifery, and partner agencies
• Manage and prioritise a complex caseload, ensuring statutory timescales and quality standards are met
• Provide mentoring, guidance, and practice support to less experienced social workers
• Prepare high-quality reports and documentation for meetings, reviews, and court proceedings where required
• Apply current legislation, statutory guidance, and safeguarding procedures consistently in practice
Essential Requirements:
• Social Work England registration
• Significant post-qualifying experience within children’s social care
• Experience of pre-birth assessments and safeguarding practice
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and child protection procedures
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a team environment
