Band 6 Occupational Therapist within the Mental Health Team in Hammersmith and Fulham, earning £27.00 per hour. This exciting ongoing locum opportunity offers full-time hours, working Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours per day, supporting older adults with mental health and dementia-related needs. Working within a multidisciplinary mental health service, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions that promote independence, wellbeing, and improved quality of life.

What you will do:

  • Undertake functional assessments to identify service users' strengths, needs, and areas requiring intervention.

  • Complete home and environmental assessments to support safe and independent living where appropriate.

  • Carry out standardised Occupational Therapy assessments and utilise evidence-based practice throughout your work.

  • Develop and deliver tailored Occupational Therapy intervention plans that promote positive outcomes.

  • Facilitate therapeutic groups that encourage social engagement, participation, and meaningful occupation.

  • Assess and support older adults with mental health conditions and dementia-related needs.

  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team supporting inpatient mental health services.

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical records in accordance with professional and organisational standards.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, care planning discussions, and service reviews.

  • Promote recovery-focused, person-centred practice in all aspects of service delivery.

Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.

  • Current HCPC registration.

  • Previous Band 6 Occupational Therapy experience or equivalent.

  • Experience working with older adults.

  • Experience within mental health and dementia services.

  • Strong functional assessment and home assessment skills.

  • Experience completing standardised Occupational Therapy assessments and delivering targeted interventions.

  • Ability to facilitate therapeutic group work effectively.

Desirable:

  • Previous NHS Mental Health experience.

  • Experience within an Older Adult Mental Health inpatient setting.

  • Previous experience working within multidisciplinary mental health teams.
