What you will do

• Manage an allocated caseload of SEND Tribunal appeals from registration through to resolution or tribunal hearing.
• Monitor tribunal directions, statutory deadlines, and key milestones, ensuring compliance at every stage.
• Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date case records using SEND case management systems.
• Coordinate the preparation of appeal responses, supporting evidence, witness statements, and tribunal bundles.
• Work closely with SEND Officers, Educational Psychologists, schools, colleges, health professionals, social workers, and legal representatives.
• Act as a key point of contact for parents, carers, and young people involved in SEND Tribunal proceedings.
• Prepare cases for mediation and tribunal hearings, coordinating contributions from relevant stakeholders.
• Ensure all tribunal-related documentation is completed accurately and submitted within required timescales.
• Monitor outcomes and identify trends, risks, and opportunities for service improvement.
• Contribute to the development of effective SEND Tribunal processes and best practice across the service.
• Support the resolution of disputes wherever possible through collaborative working and early intervention approaches.

Requirements

• SEND Experience: Significant experience working within SEND services, education, local authority settings, or tribunal case management.
• Tribunal Knowledge: Strong understanding of SEND Tribunal procedures, mediation processes, and statutory responsibilities.
• Legislative Knowledge: Working knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice, and relevant education legislation.
• Case Management Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple complex cases while meeting strict deadlines.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written, verbal, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Organisational Skills: Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
• Report Writing: Experience preparing high-quality reports, documentation, and case evidence.
