What you will do

• Perform specialist Haematology and Blood Transfusion laboratory investigations.
• Validate and report laboratory results with precision and expertise.
• Process urgent and routine samples efficiently to support patient care.
• Participate in the delivery of a 24-hour laboratory service, including night and long day shift rotas.
• Review laboratory quality assurance standards to maintain high-quality service.
• Operate and maintain laboratory analysers and equipment.
• Ensure accurate completion of laboratory records and documentation.
• Support safe and effective Blood Sciences service delivery.

Requirements

• Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent.
• HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
• Proficiency in Haematology and Blood Transfusion practices.
• Ability to work independently and undertake lone working at night.
• Experience within an NHS laboratory and ability to work long day shifts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work as part of a laboratory team.

Desirable Requirements

• Previous Band 6 Biomedical Scientist experience.
• Experience within Essential Services Laboratories.
• Experience supporting out-of-hours services.
• Familiarity with laboratory quality management systems.
