Role Overview

A brilliant opportunity has arisen for two experienced Recovery Workers to join a dynamic and impactful criminal justice substance misuse service in Brighton. This full‑time locum role offers 37.5 hours per week at an hourly rate of £23, providing both security and flexibility. You will work closely with individuals affected by drug and alcohol dependency, supporting them through structured interventions, harm‑reduction work, and personalised recovery planning.

Key Responsibilities / What You Will Do

  • Manage and support a caseload of clients with drug and/or alcohol dependency needs.
  • Carry out comprehensive and ongoing risk assessments.
  • Create, implement, and regularly review individualised recovery care plans.
  • Deliver 1:1 keywork sessions and structured interventions.
  • Provide harm‑reduction advice and support focused on drugs and alcohol.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies, criminal justice services, and wider community teams.
  • Maintain accurate, clear, and timely case notes and records.

Requirements / Candidate Criteria

Essential

  • DBS on the Update Service.
  • Proven experience in substance misuse, particularly drugs and alcohol.
  • Strong caseload management and keyworking experience.
  • Solid understanding of harm‑reduction principles and recovery models.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and documentation skills.

Desirable

  • Experience working in criminal justice or probation‑linked substance misuse services.
  • Knowledge of Brighton’s local substance misuse pathways and partner agencies.
