What you will do:
- Conduct rigorous and timely reviews of decisions made under Lambeth Council’s Allocations Policy, ensuring adherence to statutory duties for the homeless.
- Serve as a senior figure to Housing Officers, providing independent legal reviews for cases when customers are dissatisfied with housing allocation decisions.
- Collaborate with external partners and perform statutory review enquiries prior to decision-making.
- Deliver a professional Review and Appeal service, ensuring decisions can withstand scrutiny from political, media, and legal perspectives.
- Manage the use of temporary accommodation during the review and appeal processes.
- Provide expert knowledge in key legislative acts like the Equality Act, Care Act, Mental Health Acts, and the Housing Act.
- Offer quality assurance feedback to improve casework decisions and reduce future reviews and appeals.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, external agencies, and voluntary organisations to arrive at sustainable housing solutions for customers.
