What You Will Do

  • Manage a caseload of service users with substance misuse issues, completing assessments, care planning, interventions, and reviews.

  • Work collaboratively with service users to develop recovery plans, set realistic goals, and track progress.

  • Deliver one-to-one structured interventions and motivational support.

  • Provide harm reduction advice, including overdose prevention and safer use guidance.

  • Address wider needs such as housing, mental health, physical health, and social inclusion.

  • Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns in line with local and national protocols.

  • Work closely with partner agencies including health services, mental health teams, and housing providers.

  • Maintain accurate and timely case records using VIA’s case management systems.

  • Facilitate access to detox, rehabilitation, prescribing services, and community recovery resources.

  • Participate in multi-disciplinary meetings, case discussions, and service planning sessions.


Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Experience working with individuals affected by substance misuse, mental health issues, or homelessness.

  • Understanding of recovery-oriented, strengths-based, and trauma-informed practice.

  • Excellent communication and engagement skills.

Desirable:

  • A relevant qualification in health, social care, counselling, or a related field.

  • Experience working in drug and alcohol services.

  • Knowledge of harm reduction approaches and treatment pathways.

  • Strong assessment, planning, and organisational skills.

  • Confident caseload management and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Good written and IT skills.

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
