About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Children’s Social Worker to join the Children with Disabilities Team in Sutton. Key Responsibilities

As a Children’s Social Worker in the Children with Disabilities Team, you will:

• Undertake statutory assessments and interventions for children with disabilities under the Children Act 1989.

• Manage cases across Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children frameworks.

• Develop, implement, and review robust, child-centred care and support plans, including short breaks and direct payments.

• Lead safeguarding activity, including Section 47 enquiries and participation in Child Protection Conferences.

• Work closely with families using a strengths-based and relationship-focused approach.

• Collaborate with multi-agency partners, attending EHCP reviews, strategy meetings, and professionals’ meetings.

• Prepare high-quality assessments, reports, and documentation for court proceedings and panels where required.

• Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality case records in line with council policies and statutory requirements.

• Participate in supervision, training, and continuous professional development to maintain high standards of practice.

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work

• Registration with Social Work England

• Post-qualifying experience within statutory children’s social care

• Experience working with children with disabilities and complex needs (desirable)

• Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and disability legislation
