About the Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Children’s Social Worker to join the Children with Disabilities Team in Sutton. This ongoing role offers both part-time and full-time flexibility, alongside a competitive hourly rate of £37.52. You will undertake statutory social work with children and young people aged 0–18 who have disabilities and complex needs, ensuring they are safeguarded and supported to achieve the best possible outcomes in line with legislation and local policy.

Key Responsibilities
As a Children’s Social Worker in the Children with Disabilities Team, you will:

Undertake statutory assessments and interventions for children with disabilities under the Children Act 1989.

Manage cases across Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children frameworks.

Develop, implement, and review robust, child-centred care and support plans, including short breaks and direct payments.

Lead safeguarding activity, including Section 47 enquiries and participation in Child Protection Conferences.

Work closely with families using a strengths-based and relationship-focused approach.

Collaborate with multi-agency partners, attending EHCP reviews, strategy meetings, and professionals’ meetings.

Prepare high-quality assessments, reports, and documentation for court proceedings and panels where required.

Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality case records in line with council policies and statutory requirements.

Participate in supervision, training, and continuous professional development to maintain high standards of practice.
Requirements

Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work

Registration with Social Work England

Post-qualifying experience within statutory children’s social care

Experience working with children with disabilities and complex needs (desirable)

Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and disability legislation
