Job Title: Social Worker Senior Practitioner – Test and Learn PILOT

Senior Practitioner required for an ongoing opportunity within the Test and Learn PILOT in Durham. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team at the forefront of innovation, helping to transform social care across the North of the County. Available on both a full-time and part-time basis, this role offers flexibility while delivering meaningful impact for children and families.

We are seeking an experienced and skilled individual to lead the charge in our revolutionary “test and learn pilot”. You will work closely with a Team Manager from Families First, a Team Manager from Family Help, and a Social Work Consultant from First Contact. This collaborative role focuses on reimagining the front door of our social care system, ensuring families receive timely and appropriate support from voluntary and community services, Family Help teams, or social work teams. The aim is to protect children from harm through a swift turnaround of support identification within 10 days.

What you will do:

• Work collaboratively with the pilot team to assess the needs of children and families, ensuring access to the most appropriate support

• Operate within a new style Family Hub, making calls, visiting families, and initiating timely multi-agency interventions

• Contribute directly to the social care reform programme through expert front-line practice

• Identify gaps in current service provision and propose practical solutions to improve family help pathways
