What you will do:

  • Engage with children aged 0-25 and contribute to ongoing assessments, care planning, and reviews focusing on a child-centred approach.
  • Undertake direct work with children, young people, and families in their homes and the community to promote positive outcomes aligned with individual care plans.
  • Facilitate and supervise contact for children and young people with birth family members, providing transport and assessment as needed.
  • Identify and assess levels of risk and need, delivering protective services with the support of management for children at risk or in need.
  • Communicate effectively and confidently across different contexts.
  • Conduct home visits and welfare checks, ensuring community safeguarding while reporting risks according to policies and procedures.
  • Offer emergency support, including immediate home tasks, overnight stays, and logistical help such as shopping for essentials.
  • Support social workers during Child Protection Enquiries and assist in emergency protection measures.
  • Advise and refer families to other services like financial support and welfare rights as part of the care planning.
  • Contribute to family court-directed work and support children’s involvement in decision making about their lives.
  • Foster the wellbeing and resilience of youths, guiding them in developing their emotional identity and self-esteem.
  • Deliver inclusive practice with respect to identity and diversity and work collaboratively within multi-agency frameworks.
  • Enter and maintain high-quality information on children's databases.
  • Support social workers with practical tasks and participate in developmental opportunities.
