Social Worker – Child Protection Chair within Children's Services in Barking & Dagenham, earning £45.20 per hour. This exciting ongoing locum opportunity offers full-time hours of 35 per week alongside a flexible hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to work from home 2-3 days per week. This role is ideally suited to a highly experienced safeguarding professional with extensive knowledge of Child Protection, Children in Need, Children in Care, Safeguarding practice, and the ROTH framework.
Working within a dedicated safeguarding service, you will play a crucial role in ensuring effective multi-agency working, high-quality safeguarding interventions, and positive outcomes for vulnerable children and families.

What you will do:

Chair Child Protection Conferences, ensuring all statutory requirements and safeguarding responsibilities are met.

Oversee and monitor Child Protection Plans to ensure they effectively address identified risks and promote positive outcomes.

Work in partnership with children, families, carers, and professionals to facilitate robust safeguarding decision-making.

Apply specialist knowledge of Child Protection, Children in Need, Children in Care, and safeguarding legislation to complex cases.

Utilise the ROTH framework to support high-quality analysis, assessment, and decision-making processes.

Undertake comprehensive risk analysis and provide professional challenge where required to ensure children remain safeguarded.

Ensure plans are child-focused, outcome-driven, and developed through effective multi-agency collaboration.

Provide expert advice, consultation, and support to social workers, managers, and partner agencies on complex safeguarding matters.

Monitor the quality and effectiveness of child protection processes and contribute to service improvement initiatives.

Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive records, reports, and conference documentation.

Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, statutory guidance, local authority procedures, and Social Work England standards.

Promote best practice and contribute to safeguarding quality assurance processes across the service.
Requirements:

Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work.

Current Social Work England registration.

Significant post-qualification experience within Children's Social Care.

Extensive experience in Child Protection, Children in Need, Safeguarding, and Children in Care services.

Experience chairing Child Protection Conferences or undertaking a similar Independent Reviewing or Child Protection leadership role.

Strong understanding and practical application of the ROTH framework.

Excellent communication, analytical, decision-making, and report-writing skills.

Ability to challenge appropriately and confidently within a multi-agency safeguarding environment.
