Substance Misuse Nurse
Location: Preston
Pay Rate: £32.00–£34.00 per hour
Contract: Temporary (2 Months)

Seven Resourcing are recruiting for an experienced Substance Misuse Nurse to join a dedicated drug and alcohol service in Preston on a full-time, temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate and skilled nurse to support individuals affected by substance misuse, delivering high-quality clinical care and promoting recovery within the community.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive assessments, treatment, harm reduction interventions, and ongoing clinical support to service users with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive assessments for individuals with drug and alcohol dependency.
- Deliver evidence-based clinical interventions and develop person-centred treatment plans.
- Administer and monitor prescribing programmes, including opioid substitution therapy where appropriate.
- Carry out physical health assessments, blood-borne virus screening, vaccinations, and health promotion activities.
- Provide harm reduction advice and interventions to minimise the risks associated with substance misuse.
- Monitor service users' progress and review care plans to support positive recovery outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with GPs, mental health services, social care, and partner agencies.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure compliance with professional and organisational standards.
- Support safeguarding processes and risk management for vulnerable adults.
- Promote recovery, independence, and improved physical and mental wellbeing.
Applicant Requirements
- Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse.
- Previous experience working within substance misuse, drug and alcohol, or addiction services.
- Experience completing clinical assessments and delivering evidence-based interventions.
- Knowledge of harm reduction, recovery-focused practice, and safeguarding.
- Experience administering medication and monitoring treatment programmes.
- Excellent communication, assessment, and clinical decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Full UK driving licence is desirable.
