Seven Resourcing are recruiting for experienced Substance Misuse Recovery Workers to support adults accessing drug and alcohol recovery services across Greater London. We have multiple opportunities available across areas including Southwark, Walthamstow, Barking & Dagenham, Croydon, with additional opportunities across Hertfordshire and surrounding areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with experience in substance misuse, drug and alcohol services, addiction, mental health, criminal justice, or community-based recovery support who are passionate about helping individuals achieve sustainable recovery outcomes.

About the Role

As a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker, you will work directly with adults experiencing drug and alcohol dependency, delivering structured, person-centred interventions to support recovery, harm reduction, and long-term positive change.

Depending on the service, you may work as a Recovery Worker or Recovery Coordinator, managing a caseload, completing assessments, developing recovery plans and working collaboratively with clinical teams and partner agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of adults accessing substance misuse and addiction services
  • Complete comprehensive assessments including risk, safeguarding, and substance use assessments
  • Develop and review personalised recovery and care plans
  • Deliver one-to-one and group-based recovery interventions
  • Provide harm reduction advice and relapse prevention support
  • Support service users to engage with treatment and recovery services
  • Work closely with prescribing teams, mental health services, housing providers, probation, and other partner agencies
  • Maintain accurate and timely case records
  • Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns
  • Support service users to access education, employment, housing, and community services
  • Promote engagement, motivation and positive behaviour change
  • Support individuals involved with the criminal justice system where required
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated support

About You

  • Experience working within substance misuse, drug and alcohol, addiction, recovery, or community services
  • Experience supporting individuals with complex or multiple needs
  • Understanding of addiction, recovery models and harm reduction
  • Experience completing assessments, care planning and risk management
  • Strong communication, engagement and motivational skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with service users
  • Experience working with partner agencies such as mental health, housing, probation or criminal justice services is desirable
  • Confident working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledge of safeguarding adults and children
  • Enhanced DBS required
