What you will do:

• Provide high-quality care and support to children and young people, ensuring a safe, caring, and emotionally supportive environment.
• Promote personal care and independence while respecting the dignity and choices of each young person.
• Maintain daily routines in the home, including administration, cooking, cleaning, and home maintenance tasks.
• Assist young people in attending appointments and commitments to help establish consistent routines and build self-reliance.
• Offer guidance and encouragement in education, health, and wellbeing pursuits, enabling young people to reach their full potential.
• Work in various settings, including residential care, community placements, and family support, to meet individual needs.
• Develop and maintain effective communication and partnerships with young people, their families, and other professionals.
• Participate in delivering high-quality, evidence-based services in compliance with relevant laws, policies, and standards.
• Engage with young people to promote their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development.
• Collaborate with professionals and families to ensure care plans are comprehensive and adhered to, focusing on the young person’s views.
• Facilitate a culture of openness where young people have access to information about their rights and responsibilities.
• Incorporate knowledge of Attachment Theory to aid in guiding young people who exhibit a range of behaviours.
• Contribute as an active member of a multi-disciplinary team to assess needs and implement support strategies.
• Maintain accurate and concise records in a timely manner, adhering to best practice.

Key criteria:

• Hold or be working towards an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
• Flexible to work varying shifts and a sleep-in rota within the home.
• Empathetic with the ability to work with a child-centred approach and anti-discriminatory practice.
• Serve as an appropriate role model for children and young people.
• Work effectively both independently and as a team member.
• Demonstrate good literacy and numeracy skills for administrative tasks.
• Possess excellent communication skills and resilience to handle challenging situations.
• Hold a valid category B driving licence.
