Substance Misuse Non-Medical Prescriber - Birmingham: Earn £57 Per Hour

Join us in an exciting opportunity as a Substance Misuse Non-Medical Prescriber in Birmingham, working full-time at £57 hourly, Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00. Initially, this is a 1-month block booking with the possibility of extension. We need someone to start as soon as possible. As directed by the NMP Lead, Assistant Medical Director, and the Service’s Medical Lead, you will be an integral member of a dynamic multi-disciplinary and multi-agency team. Your role will be crucial in providing recovery-oriented alcohol and drug intervention services.

Main Purpose of the Role:
You will offer care for presenting clients and take a lead role in developing the prescribing clinic as a point of contact for other workers and partner agencies around prescribing issues.

What You Will Do:
- Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate treatment and care for service users.
- Clinically assess needs and plan care accordingly with integration of both drug and non-drug-based treatment.
- Identify service users suitable for in-patient alcohol and opioid detoxification.
- Review and manage clinical treatment plans to ensure effectiveness.
- Prescribe and adjust medication in line with best practice and protocols.
- Provide essential information on medications, including potential side effects and interactions.
- Prioritise health concerns and assist in complex or urgent situations with guidance from Clinical Lead if necessary.
- Assess and refer patients with mental health needs as necessary.
- Support and guide service users in adopting health-promoting strategies.

Requirements:
To qualify, you must be a registered pharmacist with current GPhC registration and two years’ post-qualification experience or a first-level registered nurse with a current PIN and three years’ post-qualification experience, including at least one year in substance misuse treatment. As a Non-Medical Prescriber, you need a solid understanding of clinical prescribing and harm reduction. Your ability to assess, plan, and deliver quality services is essential, along with strong communication and report-writing skills.
