About the Role

Warwickshire County Council is committed to delivering exceptional, relationship-based support to children and young people in care. As a Senior Social Worker, you’ll champion long-term stability and positive outcomes, ensuring every child’s voice is heard and reflected in their care journey. You will take on more complex cases, support team members, and play a key role in maintaining high standards across the service.


What You Will Do

  • Manage a caseload of children and young people with complex needs, including those requiring permanency planning.

  • Fulfil all statutory duties, including assessments, care plans, reviews, PEPs, and direct life-story work.

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with children to ensure their wishes and feelings shape care decisions.

  • Lead on safeguarding activity, including risk assessments and safety planning.

  • Drive progress on permanency planning through effective multi-agency partnership working.

  • Mentor and support less experienced colleagues, modelling best practice.

  • Work collaboratively with schools, health teams, and external partners to ensure consistent and coordinated support.

  • Maintain high-quality, timely case records in line with local and national guidance.

  • Contribute to team development and ongoing professional learning.


Requirements

  • Essential:

    • Qualified Social Worker (SWE registered)

    • Experience supporting looked-after children or working within a Children in Care Team

    • Strong safeguarding knowledge and excellent communication skills

  • Desirable:

    • Experience mentoring or supervising colleagues

    • Experience with court work

    • Training in trauma-informed or therapeutic practice
