Hours: 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00 (some flexibility may be considered)

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Band 6 Health Visitor seeking a fulfilling locum role in Worcester. Working 30 hours per week over a three-month contract, you will play a vital part in promoting child health, supporting families, and delivering the Healthy Child Programme (0–5). Purpose of the Role

To deliver a high-quality public health service to children and families, supporting healthy growth and development through the Healthy Child Programme. As a Health Visitor, you will work autonomously within the community to provide assessment, intervention, and safeguarding support.


What You Will Do

  • Deliver the Healthy Child Programme (0–5), including health reviews, assessments, and early interventions.

  • Promote health and wellbeing in key areas such as breastfeeding, nutrition, immunisation, sleep routines, safety, and development.

  • Provide parenting advice and early education on child development and common childhood issues.

  • Undertake comprehensive health and developmental assessments for infants and young children.

  • Identify additional needs, vulnerabilities, or risks, offering tailored support and targeted interventions.

  • Develop personalised health plans and monitor the child’s progress and outcomes.

  • Support families experiencing perinatal mental health concerns, domestic abuse, or safeguarding issues.

  • Act as a safeguarding lead, escalating concerns according to Trust and statutory procedures.

  • Attend multi-agency meetings, case conferences, and child protection reviews.

  • Work collaboratively with community services and deliver group sessions such as antenatal classes and parenting programmes.


Person Specification

Essential Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse (Adult, Child, or Mental Health) or Midwife.

  • SCPHN (Health Visitor) qualification.

  • Current NMC registration.

  • Full driving licence and business insurance.

  • Experience working with children and families within public health or community services.

  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child development, and early intervention.

  • Ability to build effective relationships with families and professionals.
