What you will do

  • Manage a complex caseload of Children in Care, ensuring that all statutory responsibilities are met within the required timescales.
  • Conduct high-quality assessments, care planning, pathway planning, and permanence planning, all in accordance with legislative requirements.
  • Take the lead on cases involving placement stability, reunification, kinship arrangements, Special Guardianship Orders, and long-term care planning.
  • Chair and contribute actively to professional meetings, reviews, and multi-agency safeguarding discussions to ensure the best outcomes for children.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Social Work Degree, BA (Hons) Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent recognised qualification is essential.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development relevant to children's social care to keep your skills and knowledge up to date.

Registration & Compliance

  • Current registration with Social Work England (SWE) is required.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance.
  • Sound understanding of key legislation such as the Children Act 1989 and 2004, Care Planning, Placement and Case Review Regulations, and more.

Experience

  • Significant post-qualification experience within Children's Social Care, including handling complex safeguarding cases.
  • Proven track record of achieving positive outcomes for looked after children through permanence planning and relationship-based interventions.
