What you will do:

  • Accurately prepare, dispense, and supply medicines to inpatients and outpatients.

  • Support medicines reconciliation processes to promote safe and effective medication management.

  • Ensure medicines are dispensed safely and accurately in accordance with prescriptions, Trust policies, and legal requirements.

  • Work alongside pharmacists and multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality pharmaceutical care.

  • Provide advice to patients regarding the safe use of prescribed medicines within your scope of practice.

  • Maintain appropriate stock levels and support effective inventory management processes.

  • Monitor and order pharmaceutical supplies to ensure continuity of service.

  • Manage controlled drugs in accordance with legislation, policies, and procedures.

  • Participate in aseptic preparation services where applicable.

  • Undertake Accredited Checking Technician (ACT) duties if appropriately qualified.

  • Maintain accurate pharmacy records, documentation, and electronic systems.

  • Ensure compliance with GPhC standards, NHS policies, and medicines legislation.

  • Report incidents, near misses, and medication errors in accordance with organisational procedures.

  • Contribute to clinical audits, service evaluations, and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Communicate effectively with patients, carers, clinicians, and pharmacy colleagues.

  • Support the training, supervision, and development of junior pharmacy staff where appropriate.

Person Specification:

  • NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Pharmacy Services or equivalent recognised qualification.

  • Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

  • Previous experience working as a Pharmacy Technician within hospital or community pharmacy settings.

  • Competence in the accurate preparation and dispensing of medicines.

  • Good understanding of medicines legislation, pharmacy procedures, and professional standards.

  • Experience using pharmacy dispensing and case management systems.

  • Experience in aseptic preparation and Accredited Checking Technician (ACT) responsibilities is desirable.

  • Strong organisational, communication, and teamwork skills.
