What you will do:
- Ensure services for children and young people with SEND are delivered following the vision for inclusion in Lancashire, contributing to strategic planning and policy development.
- Collaborate with children, young people, families, education providers, and multi-agency stakeholders to achieve high-quality outcomes, advocate for inclusive practices, and proactively address complex issues.
- Manage a diverse caseload from assessment through planning and review stages, maintaining compliance with statutory requirements, and support tribunal preparation.
- Provide technical expertise to drive service improvements and challenge partner organisations constructively.
- Mentor and guide SEND EHCP Officers and other team members, particularly in complex cases, while maintaining accountability.
- Lead and participate in statutory and strategic meetings to ensure effective service delivery.
- Act as the lead officer for an identified caseload, support cross-service initiatives, and contribute to county-wide SEND planning and improvement activities.
- Provide expert input into technical areas of delivery and service development.
- Support children and young people in non-traditional education settings, focusing on safeguarding and tailored support.
- Co-produce Education, Health and Care plans with families and coordinate with providers for placement and provision.
- Facilitate transitions into post-16 and post-19 education or employment, ensuring provision aligns with EHC plans.
Requirements:
- Professional qualification or equivalent experience.
- Experience working with SEND children and families.
- Proven knowledge of applying SEND practices to drive service improvements.
- Experience in collaborating within multi-agency environments.
- Understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and related statutory frameworks.
- Skilled in assessing complex reports and making informed decisions.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet statutory deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Proficient in using digital tools for case management and data protection compliance.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative work style.
