Pay Rates (Inclusive of Holiday Pay)

  • Weekday: £14.24 per hour
  • Weeknight: £14.57 per hour
  • Saturday Day: £14.57 per hour
  • Saturday Night: £15.13 per hour
  • Sunday Day: £15.13 per hour
  • Sunday Night: £15.69 per hour
  • Bank Holiday Day: £17.93 per hour
  • Bank Holiday Night: £17.93 per hour

The Role

Seven Resourcing is recruiting experienced Health Care Assistants to support a specialist Female Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) in Middleton St George.

This role provides an opportunity to support women experiencing acute mental health crises within a structured inpatient environment. You will play an important role in delivering compassionate, person-centred care while promoting safety, dignity and recovery.

Working alongside registered nurses and a wider multidisciplinary team, you will support patients with complex mental health needs, helping them through periods of crisis while encouraging independence and positive therapeutic outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality personal care, emotional support and reassurance to patients.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with patients while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Support individuals experiencing acute mental health difficulties.
  • Assist patients with daily living activities while promoting independence and dignity.
  • Observe and report changes in patients' mental and physical wellbeing.
  • Support therapeutic activities and recovery-focused care plans.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and complete care documentation.
  • Work closely with nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Promote a safe, respectful and therapeutic ward environment.
  • Follow safeguarding, infection control and health and safety procedures.
  • Respond professionally to challenging behaviours using appropriate de-escalation techniques.

Essential Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 months' recent experience working as a Health Care Assistant, Support Worker or Mental Health Support Worker.
  • PMVA training is a requirement.
  • Previous experience within mental health, psychiatric, acute or inpatient settings is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • A compassionate and patient-centred approach to care.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is desirable or willingness to obtain one.
