Purpose of the Role:
The Educational Psychologist will provide psychological assessments, interventions, and support for children and young people within the London Borough of Enfield. Your work will focus on promoting inclusive education, emotional wellbeing, and positive learning outcomes by collaborating with schools, families, and other professionals.
What You Will Do:
Assessment & Consultation:

Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments for children and young people, including those with special educational needs (SEN), behavioural difficulties, or emotional and social challenges.

Offer consultation and advice to schools, parents, and professionals regarding psychological and developmental issues affecting children’s learning and wellbeing.

Produce psychological reports identifying learning, social, and emotional needs, and recommend suitable interventions.

Participate in statutory assessments for Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), contributing to the SEND process.
Intervention & Support:

Develop and implement evidence-based interventions to support children and young people with emotional, behavioural, and learning challenges.

Provide support to schools in fostering positive mental health, inclusion, and wellbeing for children and staff.

Assist schools in creating individual education plans (IEPs) and other bespoke interventions.

Advise on creating a positive, supportive learning environment.
Training & Capacity Building:

Deliver training to school staff on topics related to psychology, special educational needs, inclusive teaching, and mental health.

Help schools understand psychological assessments and how to implement effective interventions.

Offer workshops and resources for parents to enhance their understanding of psychological issues and promote positive home learning environments.
Multi-Agency Collaboration:

Collaborate with social care, health services, voluntary organisations, and community groups to provide comprehensive support for children and young people.

Attend multi-agency meetings such as SEND panels, early help meetings, and child protection conferences.

Advocate for children’s needs in multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring psychological perspectives are included in planning.
Professional Practice & Compliance:

Ensure all assessments, reports, and interventions comply with relevant legal, regulatory, and professional guidelines (e.g., SEND Code of Practice, BPS Guidelines, HCPC).

Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in line with statutory, safeguarding, and professional standards.

Participate in regular supervision and peer review, ensuring high-quality service delivery and ongoing professional development.

Stay current with new developments and research in educational psychology to ensure evidence-based practice.
