Purpose of the Role:
As a Family Court Advisor, you will represent the interests of children in family court proceedings. You will ensure that their voices are heard and that decisions are made in their best interests. Your role will include assessing risks, providing expert analysis to the court, and supporting safe, child-focused outcomes in both private and public law cases.
What You Will Do:

Safeguarding & Risk Assessment: Conduct initial safeguarding checks and risk assessments, identifying concerns such as domestic abuse, neglect, substance misuse, mental health, and other safeguarding risks.

Direct Work with Children & Families: Engage directly with children to understand their wishes and feelings, ensuring that children's lived experiences are central to your assessments and recommendations.

Court Reporting & Representation: Prepare high-quality written reports for court, presenting professional analysis and recommendations. Attend court hearings and provide oral evidence when required.

Case Management: Manage a caseload of private and public law cases, ensuring all case activities are recorded accurately and in line with Cafcass standards.

Multi-Agency Working: Collaborate with local authorities, police, health professionals, schools, and legal representatives to share relevant information and challenge any issues affecting children's safety.

Professional Practice: Stay updated with family law, safeguarding guidance, and child development. Participate in supervision and professional development to maintain high standards of practice.
Person Specification:

Qualifications: A degree or equivalent professional qualification in Social Work, Social Pedagogy, or Social Care, along with registration with Social Work England (or equivalent professional body).

Experience: Significant experience in safeguarding children and working with families. Knowledge of child development, attachment, and trauma. Experience in report writing and presenting professional opinions in court.

Clearance: Enhanced DBS clearance is required.
