Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Social Worker to join the Child Protection Court Team in Brent.
Based at the modern Brent Civic Centre, you will play a key role in safeguarding children and supporting families through court proceedings and statutory interventions. This position offers flexible working arrangements, including options to start earlier and finish earlier, compressed working weeks, and part-time opportunities.
This role is ideal for a practitioner with strong court experience and safeguarding knowledge who is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and families.
Key Responsibilities

Undertake Core Assessments, pre-birth assessments, and risk assessments.

Conduct Section 47 child protection investigations.

Prepare court statements and reports, including Section 7 and Section 37 reports.

Represent the local authority in court proceedings and provide professional evidence.

Conduct home visits to assess and safeguard children.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records.

Chair and facilitate core group meetings.

Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including police and health professionals.

Initiate and manage care proceedings where required.

Develop, implement, and review Care Plans for children.

Supervise family contact sessions and prepare reports for case conferences.

Attend strategy meetings, case conferences, and safeguarding reviews.

Develop and implement Child in Need plans to support families.
Essential Requirements

Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification (BA / MA / DipSW / CQSW).

Registered with Social Work England.

Experience working within Child Protection or Court Teams.

Strong understanding of child safeguarding legislation and statutory frameworks, including the Children Act 1989.

Experience preparing court reports and presenting evidence in court.

Excellent assessment, analytical, and communication skills.
