What you will do:

 

- Deliver high-quality primary care, acute care, and long-term condition management to patients in custody.
- Undertake triage, administer medication, conduct nurse-led clinics, and respond to emergencies.
- Manage a complex clinical caseload and provide evidence-based nursing interventions.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across Kent prisons.
- Support junior colleagues through supervision, mentorship, and annual appraisal.
- Ensure effective care planning, risk assessments, and continuity of care.
- Contribute to screening, health promotion, prevention, and vaccination programmes.
- Uphold Oxleas standards, prison policies, and national healthcare frameworks.
- Carry a radio and lead on medical emergencies when required.

 

Essential Requirements:

 

- Registered Nurse (RGN)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience at Band 5
- Experience or knowledge of working in secure or prison environments
- Strong understanding of prison healthcare pathways and national standards
- Ability to work autonomously and manage complex or challenging behaviour
- Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills

 

Desirable:

 

- Post-graduate qualification or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of prison healthcare performance indicators
- Experience in multi-agency and multidisciplinary collaboration
