What you will do:

• Perform, interpret, and validate complex Haematology and Blood Transfusion investigations in line with departmental protocols and quality standards
• Oversee the daily operations of the laboratory, including staff supervision, workflow coordination, and prioritisation of urgent samples
• Ensure compliance with UKAS ISO 15189, MHRA, and NHSBT guidelines, maintaining robust quality management and audit processes
• Act as an authorised signatory for results, ensuring accuracy, clinical relevance, and timely reporting to clinicians

Shift times:

• 08:00-16:00 Day (Mon-Fri)
• 12:00-20:00 Evening (Mon-Fri)
• 20:00-08:00 Night (Mon-Sun including Bank Holidays)
• 08:00-20:00 Day (Sat, Sun including Bank Holidays)

Qualifications:

• BSc Hons in Biomedical Science or equivalent
• IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Haematology and/or Blood Transfusion
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development CPD

Registration & Compliance:

• Must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council HCPC as a Biomedical Scientist
• Possess working knowledge of ISO 15189 standards, UKAS requirements, and MHRA regulations
• Understand relevant NHS governance frameworks, including clinical governance and risk management
• Must be able to work unsupervised out of hours
