What you will do:

Provide specialist occupational therapy to a wide range of patients requiring assessment and rehabilitation in acute inpatient and community settings.

Offer clinical supervision and appraisal for Band 5 occupational therapists, therapy assistants and students, based on the rotation cycle.

Engage actively in service evaluation and development to consistently enhance care quality.

Navigate the challenges of a socio-economic environment with patients facing complex social issues and cultural diversity.

Conduct specialised occupational therapy assessments and implement interventions for clients with complex physical disabilities as an autonomous practitioner, using effective analytical and clinical reasoning skills.

Set and evaluate rehabilitation goals for patients using appropriate outcome measures.

Independently assess progress and adapt therapy interventions as necessary, utilising your specialised knowledge and expertise.

Conduct risk assessments for the physical moving and handling of complex, dependent patients to propel rehabilitation and ensure safe manual handling for carers.

Communicate effectively with clients who have speech, cognitive, and behavioural problems, including overcoming language barriers.

Maintain and input your own statistical data regularly, adhering to department guidelines.

Actively participate in the in-service training programme, contributing to the planning and delivery of teaching to colleagues, students and the interdisciplinary team.

Lead discussions in the local journal club, engaging with current research related to occupational therapy.

Participate in occupational therapy developments within the team and service via quality and clinical audits.
Requirements:

HCPC registration: Applicants must be registered with the HCPC.

Driving licence: Ideally hold a valid driving licence to travel between sites as required.
