What you will do:

• Assist anaesthetists during elective and emergency procedures, ensuring all anaesthetic equipment, drugs, and monitoring systems are prepared in line with theatre protocols.

• Deliver safe and patient-centred perioperative care throughout the anaesthetic phase, involving tasks such as patient assessment, airway management support, and post-anaesthetic recovery handovers.

• Monitor patient condition during procedures, responding effectively and promptly to any changes in clinical status while escalating concerns as needed.

• Ensure stringent compliance with infection prevention, medicines management, WHO surgical safety standards, and theatre governance procedures.

Person Specification:

• Qualifications:

  • A Diploma or Degree in Operating Department Practice

  • Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to anaesthetic practice

  • Immediate Life Support (ILS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) training is desirable

• Registration & Compliance:

  • You must be registered with the HCPC as an Operating Department Practitioner.

  • Proficient knowledge of perioperative care standards, infection prevention, and medicines management procedures.

  • An understanding of NHS clinical governance, safeguarding, and patient safety frameworks.
