What you will do:

• Undertake specialist Histology investigations and technical procedures, including tissue processing, microtomy, staining, immunohistochemistry, and associated diagnostic techniques.
• Ensure prompt and accurate processing of patient specimens using automated and manual methodologies in accordance with departmental SOPs and quality standards.
• Rotate through specialist sections of the Histopathology laboratory to maintain a comprehensive diagnostic service.
• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot complex laboratory equipment, ensuring maintenance, calibration, and performance checks are completed appropriately.
• Contribute to Internal Quality Control (IQC) and External Quality Assessment (EQA) schemes, supporting UKAS accreditation and continuous quality improvement.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

• BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science or an equivalent IBMS-accredited qualification.
• HCPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
• IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Cellular Pathology/Histopathology (or equivalent specialist qualification).
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Requirements:

• Current HCPC registration.
• Significant NHS Histopathology laboratory experience with the ability to work independently within a specialist Histology environment.
• Ideally suited for those with a Masters in Histology or the IBMS Histology specialist portfolio for Band 6 roles.
