What you will do:

  • Assess service users with complex care and therapy needs, making a significant contribution to their care and support journeys.
  • Apply advanced professional judgement, decision-making, and risk management skills when managing complex cases.
  • Identify and coordinate appropriate care pathways to ensure comprehensive and effective service delivery.
  • Manage a complex Occupational Therapy caseload to a consistently high professional standard.
  • Support the Team Manager in leading and developing a multifaceted multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide specialist Occupational Therapy advice and guidance across Adult Social Care services.
  • Lead on comprehensive assessments, interventions, reviews, and complex case management.
  • Champion best practice, policy development, and service improvement initiatives.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support Occupational Therapists and students, sharing your specialist knowledge and experience.
  • Facilitate safeguarding discussions, risk management processes, and complex case reviews.
  • Chair multidisciplinary meetings and case conferences, ensuring effective decision-making and coordinated outcomes.
  • Promote and embed strengths-based and person-centred approaches across practice.
  • Contribute to workforce development, professional supervision, education, and quality assurance activities.
  • Support the delivery of consistently high standards of Occupational Therapy practice across the service.

Essential requirements:

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy and current HCPC registration.
  • Substantial experience working within Adult Social Care Occupational Therapy.
  • Proven experience managing complex cases, assessments, and interventions.
  • Strong knowledge of the Care Act, Adult Safeguarding procedures, Mental Capacity Act, and Mental Health Act.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring Occupational Therapists and/or other staff.
  • Strong communication, leadership, report-writing, and case-management skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Confidence in making complex professional decisions and managing risk.

Desirable requirements:

  • Experience leading practice development initiatives and representing services at strategic forums.
  • Experience supporting workforce development, education, and professional learning.
  • Experience contributing to complex safeguarding investigations.
  • Experience in service improvement and quality assurance.
