Main Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
-
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care programmes.
-
Respond independently to emergencies as required.

Deliver prescribed nursing care autonomously, with guidance from senior staff as needed.

Collaborate with patients, relatives, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care.
-
Maintain accurate documentation, both electronic and paper-based, in line with professional standards.

Comply with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.

Ensure effective communication within the nursing and multidisciplinary teams.
-
Apply evidence-based clinical practices consistently.
Training and Education
-
Contribute to the department’s development and training initiatives.
-
Complete mandatory annual training, including Manual Handling and Basic Life Support.

Promote health education among patients and their families.
-
Continue skill development to support evidence-based emergency care.
-
Participate in clinical supervision activities.
-
Support the training and assessment of junior and unqualified staff.
-
Undertake formal mentorship responsibilities if appropriately qualified.
Candidate Requirements
Essential Criteria
-
Registered General Nurse (RGN) or Registered Operating Department Practitioner (RODP).

Relevant anaesthetic qualification if applicable.

Willingness to undertake diploma-level study, such as mentorship training.
-
Strong communication skills within multidisciplinary teams.
-
Professional demeanour with a commitment to patient confidentiality.
-
Flexible, enthusiastic, and a proactive team player.
-
Positive, motivated attitude.
Desirable Criteria
-
Previous experience in Theatre, Recovery, or Anaesthetics.
-
Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) at diploma level.

Recognised mentorship qualification.
-
Qualification in teaching and assessing.
-
Over one year of theatre experience.
-
Ability to anticipate clinical needs and critically evaluate personal practice.

Effective workload and time management skills.
