The Role – Graduate Unqualified Science Teacher
As a Graduate Unqualified Science Teacher, you’ll work as part of a supportive and innovative Science faculty, gaining valuable classroom experience while helping pupils achieve academic success in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
You will begin by delivering small-group interventions, assisting with lesson planning and classroom activities, and gradually progress to leading lessons under the guidance of experienced teachers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the planning and delivery of engaging Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions to help students prepare for GCSE Science.
- Assist in developing practical resources, experiments, and demonstrations.
- Adapt lessons to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those with SEND and EAL.
- Track student progress and contribute to assessment and feedback processes.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and curiosity-driven classroom culture.
- Participate in extracurricular STEM activities and wider school life.
Candidate Profile – Graduate Unqualified Science Teacher
The ideal Graduate Unqualified Science Teacher will offer:
- A 2:1 or above in a Science-related degree (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Natural Sciences, or a closely related subject such as Engineering or Environmental Science).
- Strong academic background in Science, particularly at A-Level and GCSE.
- A genuine passion for Science and an ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and engaging way.
- Confidence, initiative, and excellent communication skills.
- A reflective approach and willingness to grow professionally under the mentorship of qualified staff.
- Previous experience working with young people (e.g. tutoring, mentoring, volunteering) is highly desirable, but not essential.
