Graduate Humanities Academic Mentor – Hounslow Secondary School – Full-Time – September 2025 Start – Earn up to £600 Per Week

A forward-thinking and inclusive secondary school in Hounslow is seeking a dedicated and intellectually curious Graduate Humanities Academic Mentor to join its vibrant Humanities department from September 2025.

The Role – Graduate Humanities Academic Mentor

As a Graduate Humanities Academic Mentor, you will work closely with students and subject teachers to support academic progress in key Humanities subjects including History, Geography, Religious Studies, and Philosophy. You will be instrumental in nurturing students’ critical thinking, academic writing, and independent learning skills—especially in preparation for GCSE and A-Level assessments.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering focused 1:1 and small group academic interventions.
  • Supporting students with essay planning, source evaluation, and revision techniques.
  • Assisting in lessons, providing tailored support for pupils with varied learning needs.
  • Creating and developing engaging learning materials and resources.
  • Promoting discussion, debate, and curiosity inside and outside the classroom.
  • Collaborating with the Humanities teaching team to monitor and enhance pupil progress.

Candidate Profile – Graduate Humanities Academic Mentor

We are seeking an enthusiastic and reflective Graduate Humanities Academic Mentor with a genuine interest in education and the Humanities. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate who hopes to train as a teacher in the near future.

The ideal candidate will offer:

  • A 2:1 or above in a Humanities-related degree (e.g. History, Politics, Geography, Philosophy, Religious Studies, or Classics).
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for developing this in others.
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive, empathetic approach to mentoring.
  • A collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn from experienced staff.
  • Prior experience supporting or tutoring young people (highly desirable but not essential).
