What you will do:

  • Respond to emergency referrals outside normal office hours, handling urgent situations with sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Undertake duties as an Approved Mental Health Practitioner in line with the Mental Health Act 1983, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Lead on statutory duties under the Care Act 2014, assessing the needs of adults and carers, and developing comprehensive support plans.
  • Conduct assessments focused on early intervention and prevention, engaging adults and carers to identify their strengths and needs.
  • Provide services to vulnerable adults, preventing significant harm or hardship by delivering timely interventions.
  • Collaborate with other professional bodies such as police, ambulance services, or courts to coordinate the service user’s assessment process.
  • Serve as an "Appropriate Adult" in custody suites and perform assessments of vulnerable adults under relevant legislation.
  • Participate in team meetings and training events, contributing insights and covering for the team manager as needed.
  • Offer advice and support to prevent serious familial relationship breakdowns and arrange emergency placements when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records in line with protocols and facilitate seamless handovers to daytime AMHP services.
  • Contribute to the development of services by sharing expertise with staff and attending forums related to AMHP and mental health laws.
