The post reports to the Service Manager and requires operational responsibility for leading a team of social workers.

What you will do:
- Take operational responsibility for managing a team of social workers, ensuring the effective delivery of the Council’s statutory responsibilities for children.
- Lead performance management initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous learning and inspiring staff to excel in their roles.
- Oversee the assessment and care planning of children in need, including those in need of protection or subject to legal proceedings.
- Engage in direct work with children and families to achieve safety and well-being outcomes and promote permanence for looked after children and care leavers.
- Provide professional advice and guidance to staff and partners, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and Croydon practice standards.
- Contribute to service improvement projects, working to recognised project management principles and methods.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant research, legislation, and policy developments, applying this to enhance service delivery.
