Location: Cardiff (County Hall)
Contract: Temporary Maternity Cover
Hours: 37 Hours Per Week
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00
Contract Dates: 15 June 2026 – 14 September 2026
Pay Rates PAYE: £29.45 per hour or Umbrella: £38.58 per hour

Seven Resourcing are currently recruiting for an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join a Children and Families Social Work service within Cardiff Council’s Early Help and Prevention team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Social Worker with experience in early intervention, family support, and children’s social care to work within a progressive local authority setting focused on reducing escalation into statutory services.

The successful candidate will join the Support for Families (Early Help) team, delivering targeted support to children, young people, and families. This role is ideal for a Social Worker who is confident in assessment, case management, and multi-agency working within a community-based children’s social care environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake strengths-based assessments within a Children and Families Social Work / Early Help framework
• Develop and implement person-centred family support plans
• Deliver direct interventions to families within the community setting
• Work collaboratively with multi-agency safeguarding and early intervention partners
• Manage a varied caseload within children’s social care and early help services
• Ensure timely, accurate and compliant case recording in line with statutory requirements
• Support prevention of escalation into statutory child protection services
• Use professional judgement to identify risk, need and appropriate levels of support
• Promote effective safeguarding practice across children and family services
• Work flexibly and creatively to improve outcomes for children and families

Candidate Requirements

• Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration (or equivalent)
• Experience within Children’s Social Care, Early Help, or Family Support services
• Strong background in assessment, safeguarding, and case management
• Ability to work effectively in a multi-agency environment (education, health, police, etc.)
• Excellent communication, analytical and report writing skills
• Strong understanding of early intervention and preventative social work practice
• Ability to manage complex family situations with confidence and professionalism
• Commitment to improving outcomes for children, young people, and families
