What you will do:
- Offer post-special guardianship order and post-adoption support, sharing birth files with adult adoptees.
- Provide emotional and practical guidance to special guardians and adoptive parents, helping families navigate new dynamics.
- Offer advice on parenting strategies, particularly for children facing trauma or attachment challenges.
- Identify and report safeguarding concerns, attending conferences and meetings when necessary.
- Support children and their carers in managing issues related to trauma, loss, identity, and attachment.
- Coordinate therapeutic services including counselling, play therapy, and CAMHS referrals.
- Help families understand the impact of early experiences on behaviour.
- Undertake post-order assessments for support services and funding.
- Evaluate ongoing needs and advocate for families to access necessary services.
- Collaborate with schools, health professionals, and other agencies to ensure a multi-agency approach to meeting children's needs.
- Provide or update life story materials to help children comprehend their adoption journey.
- Deliver training, workshops, and guidance on trauma-informed care and therapeutic parenting.
- Build confidence and resilience in special guardians and adopters.
- Support birth records counsellors in accessing and redacting birth files for adult adoptees.
- Engage in reflective practice and continuous professional development.
