Seven Resourcing is currently recruiting for an experienced Children’s Front Door Social Worker to join a busy safeguarding and assessment team in Exeter, Devon.

This is a strong opportunity for an experienced Children’s Social Worker, MASH Social Worker, or Safeguarding Social Worker seeking a locum role within a high-performing multi-agency safeguarding service.

The role sits within Devon’s Children’s Front Door, the central hub for all safeguarding and child protection referrals across the county. The team works closely with partner agencies including police, education, health, and probation to ensure timely and effective responses to concerns about children at risk.

Role Overview
You will be responsible for screening and assessing incoming referrals, gathering and analysing multi-agency information, and making clear threshold decisions in line with safeguarding procedures. The role is focused on early identification of risk, timely intervention, and ensuring children receive the right level of support at the right time.

Hybrid working is available, with a requirement to be office-based a minimum of 3 days per week in Exeter, depending on service needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage incoming safeguarding and child protection referrals
  • Undertake risk assessments and threshold decision-making
  • Work closely with multi-agency partners including police, schools, health, and probation
  • Identify children at risk and ensure appropriate safeguarding actions are taken
  • Contribute to strategy discussions and multi-agency meetings
  • Promote early help and preventative interventions
  • Maintain accurate case recordings in line with statutory guidance
  • Ensure timely and proportionate responses to concerns about children

Requirements

Essential:

  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
  • Minimum 3 years post-qualifying experience in Children’s Services
  • Experience in MASH, Front Door, Safeguarding or Child Protection teams
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced multi-agency environment
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

Desirable:

  • Experience within a Children’s Front Door or MASH setting
  • Strong assessment, analysis, and decision-making skills
  • Experience managing high volumes of referrals
