Overview

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Social Worker to join the Assessment and Support Team in Blackpool. This ongoing role offers flexibility with full-time or part-time hours and a competitive hourly rate of £39.00. You will play a key role in assessing need, supporting families, and ensuring positive outcomes for children and young people within the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake Child and Family Assessments in line with statutory requirements

  • Develop and implement Child in Need plans in partnership with families and agencies

  • Provide Early Help support through effective multi-agency collaboration

  • Complete Section 7 reports for private family court proceedings

  • Undertake Section 47 child protection enquiries and prepare families for Initial Child Protection Conferences

  • Initiate Initial Care Proceedings where necessary to safeguard children

  • Work in partnership with Housing services to assess and support homeless young people

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with children and families using the Blackpool Families Rock approach

  • Apply a strengths-based approach when working with families to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes

  • Maintain clear, objective, and timely case records in line with local authority requirements


Essential Criteria

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work

  • Registration with Social Work England

  • Recent experience within a statutory children’s social work setting

  • Strong assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills

  • Ability to work effectively with families, partner agencies, and multidisciplinary teams
