What you will do:
- Act as a lead adviser on child protection issues within the council and provide guidance to external agencies on child protection practices.
- Chair Child Protection Conferences and complex strategy meetings, ensuring decision-making enhances the welfare and safety of children within a multi-agency framework.
- Maintain a critical quality assurance role, reviewing child protection practices and promoting high standards to improve service delivery.
- Ensure safeguarding decisions align with legislative guidance including Children Act 1989 and 2004, alongside relevant UK standards.
- Maximise the participation of parents and children by providing the information and support needed for effective engagement.
- Enhance multi-agency collaboration to improve outcomes in safeguarding children.
- Chair meetings regarding allegations against professionals, maintaining thorough records according to departmental standards.
- Implement the council’s equal opportunity policies in all service delivery and employment practices.
- Participate in service planning to elevate standards and service outcomes.
- Conduct audits of children subject to Child Protection plans when required.
- Maintain up-to-date electronic records that meet scheduled requirements.
- Contribute to and deliver Child Protection and Safeguarding training sessions as necessary.
- Act as a deputy for the Safeguarding, Review & Quality Assurance Manager when required.
- Ensure prompt resolution of complaints as per departmental guidelines.
Requirements of the Child Protection Adviser:
- A degree or equivalent in social work.
- Current Social Work England registration.
- Significant frontline experience in UK Social Services as a qualified Social Worker.
